CyberHum was launched by Erick Montgomery in 1995 with the release of " Elevated ". Produced and recorded @ CyberHum Studio in London, England and Distributed by BMG Europe. Live New York City based performances followed featuring many guest artists and utilized broadband connectivity to simultaneously link the locations in coast to coast USA and Tokyo, Japan.
Whether Erick is creating deep tones, rhythmic patterns and rich textures by combining acoustic percussion with other instruments for visuals ... or venturing into electronic territories with CyberHum, his approach is always adventurous and inspiring.
A bit about the past... In Boston, 1967 at the age of 10, Erick had the wonderful opportunity for over a year to study and learn much about the art of rhythms from and with the Nigerian master drummer Babatunde Olatunji. At one of the first sessions Babatunde held up Erick's hands to the other participants and said "These are the hands of a drummer"
In 1980 at 23, Erick moved to London, England residing there throughout the 1980s and 90s. His sound combined a myriad of percussion instruments, electronic triggers and samplers.
"Just Passing Through" Erick's solo album recorded / produced with Matt Fretton in 1987 at Falconer Studios, London, England. Falconer Studios at the was time owned / managed by Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics. Further recordings include, numerous Mute Records and R&S Records artists also sound design and composing for the film director Stanley Kubrick and theater director / producer James Roose-Evans.
Additional highlights included being the percussionist in The Rhythym Run, a three piece London based band. The Rhythm Run with Steve Walsh Hit #1 in the UK Charts with the single "I Found Lovin' " and toured with legendary funksters The Gap Band and Fatback.
Erick is presently producing works with his companies CyberHum and Wheel Media Productions.
